DUI
A minor commits a DUI (Driving Under the Influence) when he or she operates a motor vehicle in a public place while having any detectable amount of alcohol in his or her system.
A first offense DUI is a Class C misdemeanor with a fine not to exceed $500 and not less than 20 nor more than 40 hours of community service related to education about or prevention of misuse of alcohol.
A second offense DUI is also a Class C misdemeanor with a fine not to exceed $500 and not less than 40 nor more than 60 hours of community service.
A third or higher DUI is punishable by not less than a $500 nor more than a $2,000 fine and up to 180 days in the County jail.
In addition, persons convicted of DUI are subject to a driver's license suspension.
